Tonsillitis… one word to describe my day today. My son managed to come down with this illness yesterday for the first time and, although it kept him in bed most of yesterday, today you wouldn’t know he had it until he starts talking and it sounds like he has cotton wool stuck in his throat! We’ve been out for a walk with the dog, including fifteen minutes in the local playground and he’s now asking for more food and doesn’t seem to be bothered by his massive tonsils! Good for him.
I need to get fit and lose a little weight as I’ve got a little lazy and am eating too much (simple really!). So, to give me a kick start, I’m trying the popular 5:2 eating plan at the moment (or Fast Diet), which is quite simple really (perfect for me as I’m not one to diet!). All you have to do is find 2 days in the week (they don’t have to be consecutive) to eat as little as possible (about 500/600 calories) and the other days you just eat normally. Now I started this last week and thought it was going to be tough, especially whilst cooking for the boys, but it really isn’t (for me anyway)! OK, you do feel hungry, but you just say to yourself ‘I’ll eat it tomorrow’ and be strong. I tend to eat something like porridge for breakfast, drink lots of fruit/herbal teas to fill the gap and I eat the same food as the boys in the evening, just a really tiny portion. Keeping busy is good and going to be early helps too…! It’s not rocket science, just eat a lot less on two days and eat normally on the other five. No need to buy anything, or pay any subscriptions, cool.
I also need to exercise, BIG TIME! I’ve become a lazy lump and need to sort it out. So today I’m going to find some ‘me’ time (probably putting my Little ‘un in front of a DVD..) and dig out one of many exercise DVDs that have been gathering dust. Exercise is great for so many things, you shouldn’t let it disappear from your life. It’s great for a fit body and fit mind, helps to de-stress, unwind, relax and sleep better (just like a massage!!). But it requires effort, self determination and time, so I’m getting off my bum, finding the time and doing it today… I’ll report back tomorrow (probably with an aching bum from too many squats and lunges!). Not quite ‘relax at your place’ but necessary to relax better!
Enjoy your day
Pauline
Massage is great to sooth aching muscles…!
